How to become a real estate appraiser?
1. Interest and personal background
The path begins with an interest in real estate, analysis and market functioning. Higher education in economics, real estate, construction or a similar field is beneficial.
2. Experience as an appraiser’s assistant
All appraisers start as assistants, learning practical work alongside experienced appraisers.
3. Acquiring professional qualifications
If you have experience and the required knowledge, you can apply for the professional appraiser’s profession and pass the exam.
The prerequisites for the professional junior appraiser exam are:
1) at least secondary education
2) at least 2 months of internship or work experience in real estate appraisal
3) completion of continuing education recognized by the Estonian Academy of Appraisals (duration approx. 1.5-2 months)
4. Continuous development and advanced training
Real estate appraisal requires constant market monitoring, development of analytical skills and professional development.
